Szplug's back-to-back podiums (Rd5 win, Rd6 third) mark the best consecutive results by a Bordurian-bred goat in National history.

The minute of silence held until a barge sounded its horn at the far lock, at the worst possible moment. Its skipper spent the rest of the afternoon apologising to anyone who would listen, and nobody along the terraces had the heart to be angry with him.

Two weeks since Burebista III's death at the Zymylpath Ascent. A minute of silence before the start. The Canal Sweep grandstand stood as one. Racing goes on because it must. But the joy has drained from the canal-side terraces.

Goats race without jockeys or riders. They run freely, guided only by instinct and terrain.
Handlers positioned along the course may encourage their goat but cannot touch or physically guide it.
All competing goats must be registered with the PCRA or an affiliated regional authority.
Veterinary certification is required within 72 hours of any official race.
Performance-enhancing substances are strictly prohibited under the Natural Performance Principle.
Betting is supervised by the Kancelaria Za Pari at all levels.
Course stewards hold absolute authority during events.
